| Event: Foresight Workshop Policy July 21-22 , 2009 Ottawa, ON Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) hosted a two day Foresight Workshop on Climate Change Policy Impacts and Adaptation in Agriculture. The workshop was attended by individuals representing a wide range of perspectives from industry, academia, government, NGOs, and civil society. Among the attendees was KIS Principal Investigator Murray Fulton.
Participants at this workshop were actually responding to the results from March 2009 workshop where participants were asked the question "By 2030, what will a world challenged by climate change require of the Canadian agricultural system to assure resiliency, sustainability and adaptability?". With this question as a starting point, participants in the March workshop developed four scenarios with climate change impacts and geopolitics being the underlying uncertainties factored in to the scenario development. The four scenarios fleshed out were - Winners and Losers, Resolutely Green Planet, Hot and Hungry, and Forced March to Resilience.
